Maternal and child health is a public health discipline concerned with the health of women during pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period, as well as the health of babies born during pregnancy. According to the WHO, each of these stages in the life cycle should be a positive experience, enabling women and their babies to reach their full potential for health and well-being.
