Patient safety

Patient safety is a concept that promotes the arrangements in place in healthcare establishments to ensure the absence of avoidable harm to a patient during the care process. This means reducing the risk of unnecessary harm associated with healthcare to an acceptable minimum. The minimum acceptable level is obviously set according to current knowledge, available resources and the context in which care is provided.
