Antimicrobial resistance

Antimicrobial resistance is a term used to describe a situation in which bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites have evolved over time and adapted to no longer respond to the drugs designed to eliminate them. This resistance makes the treatment of infections more complex and increases the risk of spread, progression to severe forms of the disease and recurrence of death.
