Maternal and child health is a public health discipline concerned with the health of women during pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period, as well as that of the babies born of these pregnancies. According to the WHO, each of these stages of the life course should be a positive experience, enabling women and their babies to reach their full potential for health and well-being.
